A bit early for a "2012 update," but thought I'd post a short ramble here since I signed in to add an illustration to my "favourites" folder ^^.
jessINK is going more or less OK. I'll be working on strengthening my commercial department over 2012 (main genre = urban fantasy). I have outlines to follow for my
Cyberpunk Elven Trilogy, and will follow outlines for the other projects I have planned too.
I've always pushed myself hard to succeed. I think I will continue pushing myself in the drawing department also. I guess I consider myself forever a student (of writing, drawing, art, life, love, etc.). There's always something new somewhere / a fresh perspective on something.
I've not done much drawing at all this year (the
Primal Scream anthology alone was a pain!), and I've been considering outsourcing some of my book covers (to professional book cover artists). I might do this in future, though I might leave the current covers as they are too (I'm mainly referring to the covers for the Elven trilogy, at the moment).
On the drawing side, I'll try to push myself to do more complex work (in terms of detail / figure drawing). I don't mind focusing on linework > colouring for now (and the near future...for a while more), because good linework = a good foundation. I've always liked working on building a good foundation. I know it's pretty trendy nowadays to want to "get ahead with minimal effort," but there's no school like the old school.
